Btw. You need to define the :eof label, as it doesn't exists without extensions.
Curious is the error message of "exit /b" in this context.
Free translation from german wrote:The label - :EOF can't be found

So exit uses goto to find the end of the file?

Should this mean that goto :eof works faster than exit /b ?

mcnd wrote:COLOR, ASSOC and FTYPE are associated to command extensions but are not documented as dependent on them.

So assoc and ftype will not work also?

EDIT
Just tried. They are not working. Thanks for the info.

Re: Some undocumented things with turned of command extensions

As to the dynamic variables - actually it's documented behavior. Have a look at the help message of SET. The explanation of these variables begins with "If Command Extensions are enabled ...". m Steffen I should read the documentation more carefully. Though for the color I've found nothing.

Some undocumented things with turned off command extensions

these variables are not accessible - CMDCMDLINE , TIME , DATE , RANDOM , ERRORLEVEL , CMDEXTVERSION , CD (but __CD__ is still there)

COLOR command is not working.

Re: js/vbs/html/hta and more hybrids and chimeras in cmd/bat

Rather an important note for the wsh scripts. To be able to pass non named arguments to the script that starts with '//' you'll need to put '//' after the script name: @if (@X)==(@Y) @end /* JScript comment @echo off cscript //E:JScript //nologo "%~f0" // %* exit /b %errorlevel% @if (@X)==...

Re: So much hate for the GOTO command, why?

What are your thoughts, is it best to not use GOTO commands? Yes. GOTO produces unreadable and unmaintainable "Spaghetti Code". Like a spaghetti in a tomato sauce you can't retrace what way it takes and where it ends. Rather use CALL to execute subroutines and return to the point where it...

Re: Dos Batch Raycast - Maze3D/Explorer3D Beta

Glad to see you back :)

I've tried the last code but I get this:

Code: Select all

%£ was unexpected at this time.

Will try to see where it comes from.

I think it from here :

Code: Select all

rem raytraverse
        for /L %%£ in (1,1,3) do if not defined $B for /L %%? in (1,1,7) do if not defined $B (

After some tests in W10 64bits ⋅  The variable does not exists at the start ⋅ After having started a cmd instance as administrator (right button on task bar icon), new cmd instances (non admin) executed with Win+R or from start menu show the variable. ⋅ Once the variab...

Re: Goto %loop%

as FOR /L hangs with big numbers goto loop sometimes is the only way to use iteration loops: http://www.dostips.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3487

though it should be used rarely as it hits the performance.

Binary tree implementation in batch (and other data structures?)

I think I saw somewhere here some data structures implemented by Aacini in pure batch (?) Here's an attempt to create a binary tree (with holding only numbers and without safety checks). Only insert and find method (now I'm wondering how to implement delete) @echo off setlocal enableDelayedExpansion...

Re: self-compiled .net hybrids

Nice one npocmaka, two questions 1. why do you call msbuild.exe? 2. are there remnant files from the build, if yes where are they located? Wish you a happy new year. 1.MSBuild works with xml files which can be used in batch files for comment lines without redundant output. the "<!-- :" wi...

Re: self-compiled .net hybrids

More notes on the msbuild technique. If you need a reference to a dll you'll need to include it in the task node in the xml (alike the simple /r:some.dll in csc compiler) you cant use the "--" directly in batch part because it will broke the xml parsing (I'll have to think how the batch pa...

There's no contradictions with the content in the first link.
Though in some other media this was misinterpreted.
