Re: Download and unzip file Batch

It's a program you install that lets you download software from various repositories, like how apt-get does. It's the closest thing you're gonna get.

Re: Download and unzip file Batch

I think you're thinking of Chcolatey. apt-get has not been ported to Windows.

Re: Short WAV files-is there no standard player to call from batch?

You should convert your wav files to mp3 so they will load quicker. when you convert wav to mp3 frequencies that are not audible to most people are cut of which results in a smaller file. So by converting wav to mp3 you loose information, that is why it doesn't make sense to convert an mp3 to wav. ...

Re: could anybody help with dos commands for this task

I think he already has the user name and password and he needs to pass both of those to a login prompt (at least I hope that's what he means; how do you not know your own username and password?). We've definitely covered passing multiple user inputs to a script or program somewhere on here before...

Re: Is there any standard equivalent of a .bashrc script for cmd?

Couldn't we just include the doskey alias file in a cmd shortcut?

Code: Select all

FOR /f "tokens=2delims==" %%x IN ('set $') DO SET "var1=!var1:%%x= "!"
Note that I haven't actually tested this, I just changed what is literally the only underscore in the entire code to a regular space.

Re: Numbers in batch game code not making sense

Using quotes with GTR (and LSS, GEQ, LEQ, and so forth) forces a string comparison instead of a numeric comparision. 9 is greater than 1, so any number starting with 9 will be considered larger than any number starting with 1. Remove the quotes for the last comparison.

Re: Batch file help. Needing to position windows.

Does embedding the program in the script as base64 count as downloading it? (My work has a similar policy, so I'm guessing it does.)

I know the Powershell looks like a lot, but the vast majority of it is just setting stuff up to make it work.

Re: Parsing taking FOREVER - possible JSCRIPT solution?

Does the order of the lines matter, or can I sort the strings alphabetically in order to make it easier for me to detect and remove duplicates?
Is the leftmost column a fixed length?
Any poison characters I need to look out for in the "C-" section?

Just change the extension from .txt to .bat and the three executables will run one after the other in order until all three are done.

Re: RPG: World of fireYtail

I'd like to see more distinction between allies and enemies; I spent the first two attempts at playing the game attacking myself because it wasn't clear who was where. It seems you had no real reason to make the background green or fullscreen, so after spending two minutes playing the game and then ...

Re: Batch RPG: 004RPG (new) and HyperRPG (outdated)

I'm feeling nice, so you won't get the usual "actively try to nitpick every flaw there is" treatment that I usually give these things. Both games could stand to be optimized. HyperRPG is 200 KB. You could easily get it to half that. 004RPG could easily be in the double digits in terms of file size. ...

Re: Need help understanding this parsing method???

The carets are because of the lack of quotes in the for loop options. Ordinarily it would be For /F "usebackq tokens=1-3" %%x but it isn't here because... I'm really not sure. I can't find the specific version of the code that you're using. Presumably it's for performance optimization, but I can't b...
