Re: Problem with variable Drive setup for XP/W98SE

@ispy:

did you try (in 9X, Xp...) this:

Code: Select all

echo %cd% >temp.file
instead of

Code: Select all

cd>temp.file
(can't test this right now)

Re: Problem with variable Drive setup for XP/W98SE

Choice.exe is not present in Windows XP. So there must be another solution to solve this issue. I might try it but currently I don't have access to XP computer. Did you check other links? I think there should be a solution already posted that would do the job.

Re: Best way to setup a "Dictionary" similar to VBA?

Another way would be to use a dictionary file: dictionary.txt AA#application1 BB#application2 CC#application3 DD#application4 and then you could use FINDSTR /B: @echo off set par=%1 findstr /B "%par%#" dictionary.txt>tmp.tmp set /p "appname="<tmp.tmp for /F "tokens=2 delims=#" %%f in ("%appname%") d...

So beyond uni_output and unique, the only other undocumented option would be /CASE_SENSITIVE.
I tested it. It is accepted as switch, complete or abbreviated, but does not seem to have any effect:
I missed that (CASE_SENSITIVE) in my original post.

Thanks.

Re: Creating a script to gather PC information - to assist those asking for help

I thought of that based on this https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=73738 . I had a problem with copy/paste (as I see it internal copy/paste to Total Commander) when my national letters (ČŠŽ) were changed (not copied correctly) on one computer. I thought maybe this (English Windows XP,...

Re: Create a text file (copied.txt) which saves the name of the copied files

Yes, now I see (first I only thought that *some* files will be removed): But the files of directory B will be removed after some time. I only need to copy the new files from directory A that have not yet been copied to directory B. As you proposed: move files to archive folder and then copy files fr...

Here https://www.dostips.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=63727#p63727 Dave mentions /UNIQUE qualifier with the SORT command. I checked sort.exe. Code: Select all

@crazylife:

I only need to copy the new files from directory A that have not yet been copied to directory B.
Can you just skip the files that are already in directory B (do not overwrite)?

Or am I missing something.

Re: Creating a script to gather PC information - to assist those asking for help

Would it be useful to display the following info:
- windows language
- keyboard language settings

I mean: I have English Windows but I use Slovenian keyboard layout. Maybe this information might be useful.

Thank you Steffen!

As you probably noticed: I have no experience with .vbs. Your solution is perfect - download is as fast as possible.

Thank you again.

Please do try to find it. Any other solutions would be great (I would really prefer to be backward compatible to XP).

Thanks.
