vbs http download slow

I found this HTTP download .vbs script at www.robvanderwoude.com. main.cmd @cscript /NOLOGO /E:VBS HTTPdownload.vbs "http://www.kockarna.si/slike.zip" "." HTTPdownload.vbs (I added the first IF statement - maybe it should be improved (I have no experience with .vbs)) . if WScript.Arguments.Count <> ...

Re: ANSI Escape Code does not works with (start) command

it doesn't work for me.

Windows 10, 64-bit, version 1903, build 18362.1139

Looks like build .657 solved the problem.

Re: CmdBkg - use bitmap as background to console window

I really miss that I don't *speak* 'C' something.... Never had a chance to learn it (I used to program in Cobol, Visual Basic, DCL, lately PureBasic and some in disassembler (Z80 and SC61860)). Now I am too old I guess (some might say 'you are never too old').

Re: Some holiday animations (from Vt100.net)

@penpen: thanks. This works very well. Though I see some 'undefined' characters on my Win10.

Yes, original DEC Video Terminals were not that fast.

Some holiday animations (from Vt100.net)

Here https://www.vt100.net/dec/animation/ you can see some .txt files that you can
type *.txt
and see some animation. Some might work some will not display correctly (they are for original DEC Video Terminals).

All .txt files are included in the .zip.

Re: Replacing "" by " in every line of a text file

This seems to work:

Code: Select all

@echo off
set var=""test"

set new_var=%var:""="%

echo _%var%_
echo _%new_var%_
Result:

Code: Select all

_""test"_
_"test"_

Re: Vt escape codes and cursor hide / show

What I remember from using DEC Video Terminals (VT 420 and VT 520): Correct sequence is: CSI Pl ; Pc H CSI = ESC + [ So you should set ESC to 27decimal echo %esc%[4;2HThis is test. to set cursor position. This should work. EDIT: this works for me: (instead of X I patched it with 0x1B) - you could us...

Re: command retunrs no value even though entry exists

It would be great to see binary compare. Probably your string 'Runescape' had an extra space or somethig.

Re: command retunrs no value even though entry exists

Would it be possible if there is no CRLF at the end (after the last line) that it would fail (I tested it and it works even without CRLF at the end.).?

Re: Memory leak when reading large text files

Any news on this. I am really curious what is causing this memory leak. I would assume if this is a system process (that allocates nonpaged pool) it would free it when this allocation is not needed anymore. Did you test your program with some SLEEP in in it (so the number of processes created is dur...

Re: Memory leak when reading large text files

Memory in nonpaged pool will remain allocated until it is released by the creator. So this is causing problems if the process that allocated the memory does not free it. Regarding the %? I really don't know. Be on a safe side (as you can see I was doing my research on XP in 2014 - so you probably ha...

Re: Memory leak when reading large text files

No. You can't free Nonpaged pool - only with a reboot. That is why my .bat has a stop when it is too close for the system to become unusable. You have to find which driver it is. I used POOLMON.EXE... You can do the test in a virtual machine with a clean Windows install. If there will be no problems...

Re: Memory leak when reading large text files

Maybe this is the reason viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5495&p=34663

You actually create lots of files...

I had problems with the nonpaged pool...
