Re: Command prompt - combining files by name

I do get some sort of strange error message (something like: "%%a unexpected at this moment") though, so it's probably related to that? Were you running the code from the cmd prompt or from a .bat file? Hi, I was running the code from the cmd prompt. From the help file of the FOR command. FOR %vari...

Re: Batch script that runs batchscripts

You have way over complicated this. You don't need to sit there and check if the program you just executed is still running before running the next. Replace all of this. :: the file to run start run_inp_in_AtenaConsole.bat :: the loop it to check the n calculation is running else ( start calculation...

Re: bat file only by computer name

I see part of your problem was solved on StackOverFlow but nobody gave you direction on substrings of variables. This is explained in the help file for the `SET` command. May also specify substrings for an expansion. %PATH:~10,5% would expand the PATH environment variable, and then use only the 5 ch...

Re: Command prompt - combining files by name

Penpen I always thought if it was an NTFS drive, it would process them in ascii order.

Re: Copy entire C:\ contents

What backup software were you using? Since Windows 7 came out Microsoft has had a very capable solution built into the OS to do backup. I would not advise you attempt this with regular Windows console tools.

Re: Command query on excel file

.BAT file cannot read excel files. You would need to use Vbscript or Powershell to do such a task.
If your file was a text file that was delimited by a specified delimiter then it should be fairly easy to do with a .BAT file.

Re: How to interpret DOS commands from an old macro

Your code is SAS. This is not a SAS forum. The SAS Institute has a wonderful community forum. I highly recommend you use it.

This forum is used for questions on Windows Scripting Languages. .BAT, Powershell, Vbscript and JScript.

Re: netsh profile name issue

The problem is most likely that the apostrophe is a different unicode character instead of the standard ascii. Which pretty much confirms much suspicion when you didn't get any output. That is what I found from my Google Searches anyways.
