print chars in any color, at any position & move/hide cursor

#1 Post by Ed Dyreen » 29 May 2011 15:49

Just wondering what would be best, I'd like to:
-print characters
-in any color
-at any position and be able to
-move and or hide the cursor.

Also:
-Should NOT rely on .NET framework !
-Should NOT rely on any servicepack !
-Should be able to run at GUI-SETUP mode in XP right after TXT-SETUP mode.

I never tried ansi.sys on XP and would like to know if it works well from someone who has.
I accummulated many batch enhancers over time but too often they were useless, or really big like for example batchman which is in my eyes almost a language of it's own. I do understand why people needed so many tools in the past as batch was much less powerfull back then.

I don't like big and bulky programs like batchman, the ones that need many switches because it wasn't split into many little apps. But the commands I've mentioned should go into a single app.

I remember the good old days with comman.com &ansi.. A red flashing text: :D
Press key when ready ...
