Foxidrive has left us

Foxidrive had been suffering severe health problems in recent years and
unfortunately passed away on Thursday 3rd November.

Though we never met, we did communicate infrequently over many years via
email, BBS message areas and then newsgroups.

He had very considerable technical knowledge and regularly assisted many
other members of the computer club to which we both belonged.

On very many occasions he demonstrated his coding skills here and in other
newsgroups.

He is sadly missed and is now at peace.

Foxidrive was a member and moderator at DosTips for more than four years. He always tried to be the first to answer a question and to demonstrate his ability. Besides of that we had some private conversation that we both enjoyed.

Rest in peace my old friend!

There are no words... Just shock and sorrow

And memories of a good bloke that I never got to meet in person.

This Internet thing has allowed us to meet so many more people in our lifetimes. His concern over my own health and my wife's health was always greater than his own. See you on the other side.

This shows how great he was. I am sure he will be missed.

RIP

P.S. Anyone knows how old was he?

Hello All,

I am shocked and saddened to hear of FoxiDrive’s untimely death. He tirelessly and selflessly devoted his free time to helping others. He leaves behind an enduring legacy in the form of thousands of patient and thoughtful answers to programming questions asked on forums and newsgroups from across the web and around the world. An impressive body of work that was literally decades in the making.

Your long labour is at an end at last, Foxi. This song’s for you:

Go in peace.

I'm very sad to hear that though I don't know anything about him besides his online activity

He was so polite guy , always ready to answer and help even on the stupidest possible questions (mine including).

Keep smiling, Foxi.

I'm saddened to learn that Foxidrive is no longer with us. He helped so many of us and was especially patient and kind with slow learners like me. I wish my health had permitted me to spend more time in this forum in the last few years so I that might have benefitted more from his generosity and expertise. Now it looks like I may be close behind him in having to take my last bow here. So this morning I resolved to make one final effort to try get my DOS system back up and running again and to finish up the projects that I started decades ago and which have been languishing on floppy disks in cardboard boxes piled up in my back bedroom.

P.S. Anyone knows how old was he?

In April this year he advised via email that he was 57.

This shows how great he was. I am sure he will be missed.

As we get older, some of us realise it's not how many days you accumulate but what you do with them that's important.

Even though Foxi was suffering significant health problems he continued to help others.

Then again, he was a mad, keen coder! I know the feeling.
