help capturing cmd console 's output to a text file

#1 Post by bars143 » 20 Nov 2013 22:28

hi experts,

want correction to my code below:

Code: Select all

@echo off

for /f "delims=" %%A in (' start "" "C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb\adb.exe" help^|find "^" ^>^>no_created.txt ') do (
echo %%A >>no_file_crea.ted
) >>no_file_created.yet
pause

"C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb\adb.exe" help >>created_without_content.txt
pause

start "" "C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb\adb.exe" help >>created_without_content.yet
pause

echo lazy making next code.
echo help is appreciated.

but why other .exe always work? like below:

Code: Select all

cmd /? >>will_output.txt
cmd.exe /? >>will_also_output.txt

anyway "adb.exe help " without the quote will always output in cmd console in both command prompt and batch file! but i dont know output'ed to a text file? :?:

and i repeat - i dont know how to capture or screenshot automatically
and directly the output of a cmd's console to a text file
by using code/script rather than lazily copy and paste manually?
any :idea: :?:

thanks in advance,

Add a few lines describing what your code should do, and what it isn't doing.

hi @foxi,

my first post with code above are for testing with different codes to redirect "adb.exe help list" output to a text file but failed.

--------
well, my intention is how to redirect output of adb.exe's command help to a text file only.

but this two codes below :

adb.exe help >will_create_file_without_content_inside.txt
adb.exe rem will not create file and only output'ed to cmd console

now i only need output of adb.exe's help list that redirected to a text file.

but first i had some tee.bat and APAtee.bat to used for testing and both working in cmd console but no content when redirected to a text file.

here is code i used above:

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb\adb.exe" ^|tee.bat "c:\users\jocelyn\desktop2\output.txt"

other code is;

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb\adb.exe" ^|APAtee.bat "c:\users\jocelyn\desktop2\output.txt"

there is something adb.exe would not allowed result be redirected to a text file?

cmd.exe
dir
and the like i tested are working except adb.exe (it is an .exe for android/apk use)

maybe you had a code that redirected content of cmd console to a text file?
so that i will have no trouble redirecting cmd console's output to a text file if other .exe have similarity with adb.exe ?

here are content of "adb.exe help" that i copy and paste manually in the cmd console:

Code: Select all

adb help outputs to stderr instead of stdout like a normal program. Use

Code: Select all

adb.exe help 2>>help.txt

It is quite possible that the developer of the tool is forcing the output to go to the console. You cannot redirect console output to a file.

@ShadowThief,

thanks for great help and it is working now:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb>adb.exe 2>>help.txt
Access is denied.

C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb>adb.exe 2>>C:\Users\Jocelyn\Desktop2\help.txt

C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb>

first test got "access denied" :shock:
and i added path and got working now!!! 8)
but some other syntax needs only ">" or ">>" :!:
as shown below:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Easy ADB\adb>adb.exe  version >C:\Users\Jocelyn\Desktop2\version.txt

@Squashman,

thanks for info regarding developer option for his own .exe status. :idea:
